SCITS Building Preservation Committee

Mission Statement

  • Our committee is dedicated to the advocacy, public awareness and increased public involvement directed towards preserving the SCITS building so that it may continue to serve Sarnia citizens.
  • As an arm of the Sarnia Historical Society, are committed to the preservation of the distinctive architectural characteristics of SCITS, including its classical auditorium, for future generations of our community to appreciate.
  • We will promote the merits and support the endeavours of the Sarnia Heritage Committee to designate the SCITS building as a historically significant property by seeking heritage status at the provincial and/or municipal level.
  • We will work to inform the public about the multitude of opportunities and potential directions available for repurposing the building may that be by municipal government, local organizations or private business.
